H-C’s Gorham qualifies for state

Hardin-Central freshman Riley Gorham continues to make his first season of cross country a memorable one. Gorham, who has set numerous school marks this fall, was the runner-up in the Class 1, District 8 meet held Saturday at Rock Port High School.

Gorham ran the course in 17 minutes, 29 seconds to take second place and earn a spot in Saturday’s state meet in Jefferson City.

Michael Walling, a junior from Maysville, took first place by crossing the finish line just 13 seconds ahead of Gorham. Matthew Periman will also be heading to Jeff City by finishing 13th with a time of 19:34. Also for the Bulldogs, Alex Collingham finished 33rd with a time of 21:12, followed by Spencer Wheeler in 21:29 (37th), Samuel Hawkins in 22:10 (48th) and Daniel White in 25:02 (57th).
