Hardin-Central freshman Riley Gorham wrapped up an outstanding freshman season at the Class 1 MSHSAA state cross country championships. Gorham finished as the runner-up in the championships held Saturday at the Oak Hills Golf Center in Jefferson City.

Not only did he grab a second-place medal, but once again re-wrote the Hardin-Central school mark for the sixth time this season. Gorham crossed the line in 17 minutes, 7.14 seconds. Seth Brown of LaPlata won the race with his time of 16:51.09. Brown, a senior, placed 11th at last year’s race.

Third place went to Chandler Harker, a senior from Vienna, who finished 5 seconds behind the Bulldog freshman. Harker took fourth place at last year’s state meet.
