ay County Sheriff’s Department netted one of its largest marijuana busts in recent history.

Deputies confiscated more than 44 pounds of marijuana – 25 pounds of it packaged into bricks – “to have been smuggled into the country,” according to Undersheriff Brian Bush.  Deputies also located and seized $5,000 in cash. Street value of the drugs is estimated at $40,000, according to Bush.

Bush said the Nov. 7 drug bust at 31639 Horn Circle in Excelsior Springs was the largest seizure of marijuana during his time at Ray County Sheriff’s Department. The sheriff’s department, along with the highway patrol conducted a search warrant at that residence.
