Strike up the bands: Orrick, Polo place first at Central Methodist Band Day

Two schools from the area won small-class honors Oct. 5 at the annual Band Day at Central Methodist University in Fayette. The event is sponsored and put on by the students of CMU’s Swinney Conservatory of Music.
Orrick High School placed first in marching band street honors, despite the rainy conditions. The Bulldog drum line also was a winner, repeating as Class I champs in indoor competition.
Polo High School was a winner, as well, bringing home a first-place trophy with its indoor color guard.
Warrensburg, competing in a large-school  division, was this year’s sweepstakes winner.
