Netters slip past Odessa

By Russ Green-Sports Editor

Richmond captured two of the three doubles matches to give the Lady Spartans a hard-fought victory over Odessa on a cool Monday afternoon at Maurice Roberts Park. Richmond improved to 5-3 overall with the win.

Coach Duane Bastob said his girls did a great job of grinding out wins with Kaylynn Persell getting a close victory in singles, while the doubles team of Cora List and Bre Miller battled hard in an 8-6 decision in the No. 3 doubles match.

Baily Busse cruised to an 8-1 win over Allison Maple at No. 1 singles, followed by Persell grabbing an 8-6 decision over Madison Ault at No. 2. Richmond dropped the next three singles matches with Lauren Barger falling 2-8 at No. 3 to Makenna Muenstermann; List falling short at No. 4 to Emily Ann Gregson, 3-8; and Sami Miller losing to Kayla Reifel 5-8 at No. 5.
