Bailey, Tweedie pace RHS runners at Platte County

The Spartan cross country team placed in the top 10 at Thursday’s Platte County Invitational held at Platte Ridge Park. The Spartans ended the afternoon with 273 points – good for eighth place in the 19-team field. Liberty North took first with 47 points, followed by Staley and Platte County with 68 points each.

Matt Tweedie had the top Richmond finish. The Spartan senior ran the 5K-course in 19 minutes, 5.4 seconds, which was the 34th-best time in the meet. Ty Hughes of Liberty North had the winning time of 16:55.2.

Wyatt Bulk was 60th for Richmond with his time of 20:06.8, which was nine spots ahead of teammate Taylor Teegarden who crossed the line in 20:29. Also for Richmond, Kody Reed placed 81st in 20:53.2; Roy Branson was 83rd in 20:56; and Jackson Pence was 116th in 22:13.9.
