Nominations sought for Richmond Wall of Honor

Richmond Education Foundation, Inc. is seeking nominations for the 2013 Richmond R-XVI Wall of Honor.

Rob Swafford, chairman of the selection committee, said nominations are due Aug. 1. Individuals selected would be notified by Aug. 15, he said, and then be recognized during the 2013 RHS Homecoming parade and game, Friday, Sept. 27 against Higginsville.

“The Wall of Honor award recognizes individuals who uphold the values, traditions and successes of the Richmond R-XVI School District,” Swafford said in a letter announcing the opening of nominations. “Honorees and their accomplishments will inspire and encourage district patrons and students to do the same.”

Last year’s Wall of Honor inductees included Jerry Cole, Terry Dickey, Jill Blair Jones and coach Ken Simmons.  In 2011, honorees were Jeffery “Puff” Adams, Tom Adams, Janice Driver and Dan Menke. Honored in 2010, the program’s inaugural year, were Virginia Bryan, Gary Converse, Bill George and Charlie Hamann.
