Six Spartans earn league honors on diamond

By Russ Green-Sports Editor

League champion Holden and runner-up Richmond take up six spots on the 10-member MRVC East first-team all-conference baseball squad as voted on by the coaches.

Holden also had three second-team selections, with the Spartans landing two more on the second-team and one more honorable mention. Both Holden and Richmond also captured district championships and both were also eliminated in sectional games.

Reid Summers, Jimmy Hamm and Matt Stafford are the first-team selections for the Spartans. Summers, a junior infielder and pitcher, was a second-team selection last spring, while Hamm, a senior infielder and pitcher, and Stafford, a senior catcher, are on the all-conference team for the first time. Another senior, third baseman and pitcher Dakota Hayward, was named second team for the second consecutive year and is joined by pitcher and designated hitter Kaleb Heber, a junior. Senior outfielder MJ Linville was named honorable mention.
