Lady Bearcats sending Fulte, McGlothlin to state

Orrick sophomore Samantha Fulte and junior Sydnee McGlothlin will be heading to Jefferson City this weekend for the Class 1 state track meet that will be held at Lincoln University.

Fulte, who qualified for four events at Saturday’s sectional meet held at St. Joseph Christian High School, will be in three events at state, while McGlothlin qualified for the discus.

Fulte took second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.56 seconds, and was just .05 behind the winner, Emily Wedlock of Mound City. Fulte finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 8 ½ inches, and she also qualified for state in the long jump with a fourth-place distance of 15-8 ¼. Fulte just missed a fourth event at state when she took fifth place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.48. The final spot was taken by Albany’s Megan Poppa, who turned in a time of 51.41.
