Jury finds Ray man guilty of statutory rape

By JoEllen Black/Richmond News

An all-male jury only needed a little more than an hour for deliberations to convict a northern Ray County man of first-degree statutory rape Tuesday in Ray County Circuit Court.

Mark A. Teegarden, 48, was charged July 20, 2011 by Ray County Prosecutor Danielle Rogers with engaging in sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl.

Stacy S. Minze, a Missouri State Technical Assistance Team investigator and prosecution witness, stated Teegarden admitted to having sex with the 12-year-old on two occasions between August 2010 and June 2011, according to her probable cause statement. He also said the child initiated the sexual contact.
