Bearcats fall in opening tests

ade in the Bearcats’ first two games of the new basketball season. The Bearcats opened the campaign Monday with a 75-16 loss at Mid Buchanan, and Tuesday night lost their home opener to West Platte 62-19.

The Bearcats committed too many turnovers to stay with Mid Buchanan according to McMahon. Orrick managed just three field goals in the first two periods as the Dragons jumped out to a 22-1 lead after the first 8 minutes and took a 44-8 cushion into the halftime break. The Bearcats added a third-period free throw as Mid Buchanan held a 67-9 lead entering the final period.

Colton Hoffman led the Dragon scoring attack with a game-high 21, with Garet Mouldon chipping in 12. Mason Karnes led the Orrick scoresheet with 11, followed by Tyler Crow with 3 and Kagen Wartenbee with 2.
