Williams receives first-team league honors

amed first team on the 2012 MRVC East all-conference softball team.

The Lady Huskers, who finished the season with a 17-3 overall record and the Class 2, District 14 title, were 8-2 in conference games – one game ahead of defending co-champions Lexington and Carrollton.

The Richmond Lady Spartans were 2-8 in conference and 6-20 overall and had one player selected to the first team.

Senior catcher Ashley Williams was named first-team, all-conference for the second year in a row. Another Richmond senior, Jamie Anderson, was named second team, while freshman Elizabeth Windsor was selected honorable mention.

The MRVC East first-team: Samantha Davis, jr., Higginsville; Jessica Goetz, sr., Higginsville; Celena Kipping, so., Carrollton; TeriAnna Mohler, jr., Lexington; Kelsey Beasley, sr., Knob Noster; Shelby Miller, sr., Lexington; Diamond Thirkield, so., Higginsville; Ashley Williams, sr., Richmond; Samantha Jo Staton, so., Carrollton; Sam Christian, sr., Holden.

Second team: Mickala York, sr., Knob Noster; Rachel Simmons, jr., Higginsville; Jamie Anderson, sr., Richmond; Dani Kilgore, fr., Holden; Caitlin Ehlert, jr., Carrollton; Makayla Lamphier, fr., Lexington; Holly Crabtree, sr., Lexington; Sarah McAninch, sr., Holden; Macy Oswald, jr., Holden; tie-Tori Nienhueser, so., Higginsville and Hunter Summers, so., Carrollton.
