Netters down Lexington in regular season finale

The Lady Spartan tennis team wrapped up the regular season and a cool Saturday morning hosting Lexington in a makeup match at Maurice Roberts Park. Richmond will begin team district play this afternoon in Odessa against Excelsior Springs.

The Lady Spartans closed out the year with a 7-7 overall record to go along with a 4-3 showing in the MRVC East by stopping visiting Lexington 6-3.

Bailey Busse continued her outstanding sophomore year with an 8-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Busse is unbeaten in the regular season and earlier in the week took first place at the MRVC tournament in Odessa. Carrie Smith won her final regular season home match with a tough 6-8 loss in singles, but teamed up with Busse to claim an 8-2 victory in No. 1 doubles. Busse and Smith also took fourth place in the conference tournament and were the No. 4 seed.
