Senior running back Derrick Dennis literally carried the Orrick Bearcats to their first victory of the season Friday night. Dennis carried 65 times for 446 yards and five touchdowns as Orrick closed out the regular season with a 44-20 victory over Wentworth Friday night in Lexington.

It was the second year in a row the Bearcats wrapped up the regular season with a victory over Wentworth to avoid a winless campaign. Orrick, now 1-8, will travel to Weston Friday night to meet West Platte in the first round of the Class 1, District 7 playoffs.

The win moved Orrick to the No. 7 seed, while Wentworth (0-8) dropped to the No. 8 seed and will play at top-seeded Wellington-Napoleon Thursday night.

In addition to his rushing totals, Dennis also completed two of three passes for 37 yards with another touchdown, while returning three kickoffs for 20 yards.
