Ben L. Sisson

Ben L. Sisson, 82, of Richmond, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

Ben was born Feb. 15, 1930 in Nevada, to Sylvan and Norma (Houston) Sisson. He married Dorothy A. Watson of Nevada Dec. 16, 1950; she survives of the home.

Ben worked as the assistant manager for the local A&P store from 1966 until it’s closing in 1976. He then worked at Jackson Hardware in Richmond until retiring in 1990. He was a United States Army Veteran. Ben was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church, and he was an ordained deacon. He had lived in Richmond most of his life.

Additional survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James Dale and Tracy Sisson of Richmond; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie L. and Artie Horn of Richmond; sister, Treva Crain of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Artie and Bonnie Horn, Timothy Horn, Brad and Heather Horn, Joshua Sisson, Danny and Courtney Sisson, Trent and Krystal Sisson and Amy Sisson; and eight great-grandchildren, Trey Horn, Spencer Horn, Chase Horn, Sebastian Horn, Luke Sisson, Layla Sisson, Rylee Adams and Kage Sisson.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by one son, David Sisson; two brothers, Don Sisson and Ronnie Sisson; and three sisters, Lorraina Slater, Mildred Hemme and Sue Zemmerli.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made the Richmond First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 12, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Richmond where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
