Lexington and Richmond booster clubs join in the annual rivalry with a
competitive food drive for schools’ backpack programs

There will be more than the Saluda Bell on the line Friday night when the Richmond Spartans visit Lexington in the regular-season finale to the football season.

Before the Spartans and Minutemen line up to battle for their annual bragging rights to take the Saluda Bell home, the two booster clubs will also have a contest to which team’s fans can bring in the most food items.

The Richmond All-Sports Club and the Lexington Minuteman Boosters will be collecting food items at the gate. Fans are encouraged to bring kid friendly items to be used in the backpack programs, but any and all non-perishable items will be accepted.

Items that are collected and cannot be used for backpacks, will be donated to the Harvesters.
