Downtown committee hopes to light Richmond square for Christmas

Dear Editor,

The Richmond Downtown District Committee has received multiple requests to explore the possibility of adding Christmas lights along the tops of the buildings surrounding the Square.  This was a nice tradition in past years, and it looks as though we are going to be able to continue the tradition!
Our provisions call for high density warm white LED lights, and we have received an initial estimate from Expert Electric for what the cost of material and labor would be.  This came out to a total of $7,712.50.
Ray and Lucille Gill have graciously agreed to donate $3,500 toward this project, and Kansas City Power & Light has agreed to donate and install power boxes.
We are beginning fundraising efforts for the remaining $4,212.50 that may be needed to complete our goal.
In order to have the lighting installed and ready to go for the Christmas season, we need the support of our Community.
For those willing to donate toward our final goal, please make checks payable to the Richmond Downtown District Committee. Please send them by mail to The State Bank, P.O. Box 576, Richmond, MO 64085. Or you can drop them off at the following locations:  The Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Richmond City Hall, or Hometown Pizza.
We thank all of you for supporting our community, and greatly appreciate the help.

– Thank you, Jimmy Carter
Chairman, The Richmond Downtown District Committee
