Masonic Lodge’s popular MoChip event fills courthouse lobby

The Ray County Courthouse lobby was filled Saturday with parents, kids and volunteers, all with the same goal – making children safer. The Masonic Children’s Foundation Missouri Child Identification & Protection event drew people like Brian Bosworth, right, whose almost 6-year-old daughter Gracie is being fingerprinted by Richmond-area Rainbow Girls volunteer Amanda Ogan. Just two hours into the event, 75 children had already been fingerprinted, photographed and documented by their unique characteristics. ‘It’s always like this,’ said Mark Hamilton, a coordinator for the program who traveled to Richmond from Kansas City. ‘We’ll do 150 (kids). We did 140 last year.’ Local coordinator Ron White said between 35 and 40 Ray County volunteers were involved. Richmond’s two Masonic lodges and lodges in Camden in Orrick sponsored the event.
