KCP&L program offers grants to low-income customers

Low-income KCP&L customers are eligible for a $50 grant each month for a year as part of a new pilot program. Customers must reside in Missouri, be current on their account and have an income at or below 185 percent of poverty level. The income level breakdown is $1,670 a month for one person, $2,247 for two, $2,823 for three, $3,400 for four, $3,976 for five and $4,533 for six.

Customers can apply by contacting KCP&L at 1-800-336-4547 ext. 416 or the Ray County Salvation Army at 816-776-8191 to schedule an appointment.

The KCP&L Economic Relief Program requires applicants to supply a photo ID for adults, a secondary ID for all household members, proof of household income and a recent paid KCP&L bill.
