Shots don’t fall for Lady Spartans

By Russ Green

Coach David Littrell said his Lady Spartans had a good effort Tuesday night against visiting Higginsville, but just couldn’t get the shots to fall in a 40-17 loss.
The victory kept the Lady Huskers a step ahead of the pack in the MRVC East with a 7-0 mark, while also improving to 16-3 overall. Richmond falls to 3-4 in the conference at 6-15 overall.
“The scoring in this game wasn’t due to lack of effort on the offensive end,” Littrell said. “It was a night when the ball wouldn’t fall in the basket, including the free throw line. I can’t remember a game throughout my coaching career when so many shots went halfway down in the hoop and end up popping back out.”
Littrell added that his Lady Spartans rebounded well, especially on the defensive end to limit Higginsville’s second-chance opportunities.
