It’s not unanimous, but Council funds REDI for 3rd year

By David Knopf/Richmond News

Richmond City Council last month approved a third year of funding for REDI – Richmond Economic Development, Inc. – but not without questions from a few council members about the bang they’re receiving for their buck.

With a 7-1 vote in favor Jan. 24, the board approved $15,000 with REDI for 2012, bringing the total that will have been expended over the three years of the relationship to $60,000.

Councilman Bob Bond, chairman of the council’s ordinance committee, voted against funding, saying he questioned the value of additional investment in REDI.

“My question, being conservative, (is) I’m not sure if for $60,000 we’re getting value for that money,” Bond said.
