Shooting woes continued for the Hardin-Central Lady Bulldogs as they dropped both games of their CLAA Tournament stay at Tina-Avalon. The Lady Dawgs, now 7-12, made only 3 of 36 field goal attempts in a 52-12 opening-round loss to top-seeded Southwest Tuesday night.
Hardin-Central shot much better Wednesday night, but could not withstand a 19-point fourth-quarter outburst by Northwestern as the Eagles rallied for a 47-37 victory in the consolation semifinal.
The Lady Dawgs trailed 17-16 at the break, and 28-26 entering the final 8 minutes, but Northwestern got six field goals and made 7 of 12 free throws to pull away for the win and eliminate the Lady Bulldogs from the tournament.
Hardin-Central, which ended the game making just 5 of 16 from the stripe, converted 2 of 7 in the fourth quarter.
