Hardin’s Hwy. 10 bridge work ahead of schedule

By David Knopf/Richmond News

Hardin residents and drivers who head west on Highway 10 may have something else to be thankful for by the end of the November.

Keith Miller, a project superintendent with APAC-Kansas City, said Wednesday that if weather cooperates three Hardin bridges now under construction could be done by Thanksgiving.

APAC has 20 employees working on the bridges and is the subcontractor to KTU Constructors, which was awarded the contract to rebuild more than 800 bridges in Missouri Department of Transportation’s Safe & Sound program.

Miller said that work began on the first bridge in Hardin on Oct. 17, followed by staggered starts on the second and third bridges on Oct. 24 and Oct. 31. Safe & Sound alloted 38 days for construction of each bridge, but Miller said that if the weather and deliveries of materials cooperate, the projects could be done by Nov. 24.
