Floyd Bruce Summa

Floyd Bruce Summa, 65, of Rayville, died at 10:55 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mr. Summa was born Jan. 27, 1946 in Hollister, Calif. to Lionel George and Artela Viola (Lowery) Summa. He married Barbara Rose Eckery of Ravenwood, Mo. on June 2, 1968; she survives of the home.
Mr. Summa was a mainframe programmer for Sprint Corporation for seven years. He had worked for Sony for 10 years and at the Capital building in Jefferson City. He had also worked as an engine technician for Sears. He was a member of the Richmond Christian Chapel and had lived in the Rayville area for the past 23 years. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era and was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
Other survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bruce Allen and Julie Ann Summa of Lathrop, Chad Wayne and Mary Allison Summa of Moberly, and Jason Ryan Summa of Rayville; one daughter, Jelena Shell Schake of Independence; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Gerald and Bonnie Summa of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Vern and Evelyn Summa of Maryville, and Clyde and Judy Summa of Council Bluff, Iowa; and six grandchildren. He left behind a childhood friend, Gerald Smith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Virginia “Nin” Eckery.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Ravenwood Christian Church in Ravenwood. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood with Military Honors.
Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, is in charge of the arrangements. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude’s Hospital for Children or Relay for Life.
