Dorothy May Stigall

Dorothy Stigall, 88, of Richmond, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at her home, one day short of her 89th birthday.
Mrs. Stigall was born June 28, 1922, the daughter of Bartlett Filmore and Myrtle Marie (Garrett) McLallen. She was a lifelong resident of Richmond. She married Dean King in April 1940; he was killed in action in April 1945 during WWII. Dorothy married Jack Stigall in October 1947, who preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Stigall was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henrietta, Ladies Auxiliary at Ray County Memorial Hospital at which she volunteered for years, Ladies VFW Auxiliary of Lexington, Eastern Star of Richmond, and the Missouri and Kansas Rainbow Division. She also volunteered at the Richmond school system for nine years as a foster grandparent.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by three brothers, Junior, J.R. and Wallace McLallen; and one son, Larry, and his wife Patty King.
Survivors include: a daughter, Dawn Abbott of Richmond; a son, Trent and his wife Pam Stigall of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Martha Outersky of Richmond; three grandsons, Warren and his wife Becky King of Oklahoma City, Okla., Matt Stigall of Kansas City, Mo., and Keenan Parker of Richmond; one granddaughter, Stephanie and her husband Todd Dauma of Phoenix, Ariz.; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and Dorothy’s very good friend, Eugenia Scherlinger.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Polley Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Polley Funeral Home in Richmond.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
