Ethel May Tweedie

Ethel May Tweedie, 98, of Stet, died at 8:25 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton.
Ethel was born Jan. 28, 1912 in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Burr Abner and Ethel May (Cheek) Case. She married John William “J.W.” Tweedie of Stet on Aug. 12, 1933; they were married for 75 years. He preceded her in death April 27, 2009.
Ethel was a homemaker. She lived most of her life in the Stet area. She was a 1928 graduate of Stet High School. Ethel was a member of the Union Baptist Church in rural Norborne where she had taught Bible School and Vacation Bible School.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Tweedie and wife, Donna, and Donald Tweedie and wife, LaMerle, all of Stet; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Dorothy Hultz and husband, Jewell, Leawood, Kan., and Juanita Erickson of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Burr Case, Jr., and one sister, Glenn O’Day.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Union Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 22, at Thurman Funeral Home, Norborne. Burial will be in Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home, Norborne.
