Haunted? Museum rates 3rd in state’s spooky spaces

The lingering spirits of the Ray County Museum should take a bow: they’ve apparently made the big time.
After surveying Missouri locations inhabited by alleged ghosts, Paranormal Adventures has ranked the Ray County Museum among Missouri’s Top 5 Most Haunted Locations. It ranked third on the list, with only St. Louis’s Lemp Mansion, first, and Excelsior Springs’ The Elms Resort and Spa, second, ranked higher. Joplin’s Prosperity Bed and Breakfast came in fourth and Kansas City’s Union Station fifth.
Paranormal Adventures didn’t base its ranking solely on its Feb. 20 ghost hunt at the museum in Richmond, said Paranormal Adventures owner Beth Cooper. Previous investigations by the Paranormal Education Documentation and Research Organization and PRI, along with the Feb. 20 visit, were relied on in calculating the ghostly conclusion.
“When we tallied it up compared to some of the other locations, we realized Ray County is an extremely haunted location,” Cooper said.
Cooper explained rankings take into account both first-hand investigations and previous eyewitness accounts.
