Dawgs come up short again

It was another frustrating night on the court for the Hardin-Central Bulldogs Tuesday as they dropped a 46-40 CLAA contest at Bosworth. Both teams hit 16 2-point field goals for the night, with Hardin-Central hitting two from outside the arc, while Bosworth connected on one.
The difference came at the free throw line as Bosworth converted 11 of 23 attempts, while Hardin-Central went to the stripe just 4 times and hit a pair as the Dawgs fell to 0-4 for the season.
Hardin-Central was charged with 25 turnovers that helped Bosworth put 70 shots at the basket while the Dawgs attempted 46.
After a slow-paced first quarter, Hardin-Central held a 6-4 lead, but Bosworth came back to take a 13-12 lead at halftime. Bosworth then outscored the visitors 15-13 in the third quarter, and closed out the game with an 18-15 advantage over the final 8 minutes.
Vance Bruce led the Bosworth scoresheet with a game-high 16 points – 11 of those coming after the break.
Mark Carpenter scored 8 of his 10 points after halftime to lead the Hardin-Central scoring. He also spent a good night on the boards by pulling down 14 rebounds, with 10 of those coming on the defensive end, in addition to dishing out a team-high 7 assists. Jake Harris also scored 10 points, followed by Damon Johnson and Cole Leakey with 6 each, and Randy Estenbaum with 2.
