Milligan’s celebrate 50 years of marriage

Bill and Donna Milligan of Independence, formerly of Richmond, will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary Saturday, Jan. 17.
The couple met at the Ray County Fair in 1957 and wed in 1959. Donna Rae Holloway (Milligan) grew up in Richmond and was the daughter of Mrs. Grace Richardson of Richmond. Billy Joe Milligan, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Milligan of Knoxville. The couple were married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Border, the bride’s sister. The wedding was officiated by Rev. Leon Wyss.
Bill served in the Marines from Nov. 1952 to Nov. 1955. He worked for Golden Star Polish in North Kansas City for 40 years. Donna worked for Sears in Kansas City for 23 years. Both are now retired.
The couple have three children, Tim Milligan of Lexington; Tom Milligan of Buckner and Todd Milligan of Independence; and four grandchildren.
An anniversary reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 18 at Zarda’s BBQ in Blue Springs.
