Hot shooting carries Lady Dawgs

The Lady Bulldogs had their best shooting night of the season Wednesday night in an 87-31 CLAA victory over visiting Bosworth. Hardin-Central hit 53 percent from the field as the Lady Dawgs improved to 4-1 for the season.
Hardin-Central jumped out to a 26-3 first period lead, and after taking a 42-17 advantage into the lockerroom for halftime, erupted for 40 points in the third quarter.
Brooke Derstler led the home team scoring with 19 points, while Reanna Newham hit 9 of 13 shots from the field on her way to an 18-point effort. Derstler also led in assists with 5, and tied Newham in steals with 4 apiece.
Megan Layman was 6 of 8 from the field as she scored 10 points, and grabbed a team-high 7 steals. Morgan Nail came off the bench to score 10 points as she missed just one of her 6 field goal attempts.
Lindsey Arbogast and Jessica Calhoun added 4 apiece for Hardin-Central, with Allison Oyler scoring 3, while Jade Warren, Tommie Twyman and Kayla Carrillo each scored 3, and Angelica Bradley added a free throw.
Oyler led the Lady Dawgs on the boards with 7 rebounds – 6 of those on the offensive end.
Krista Schnare and Autumn Wooden carried the scoring load for Bosworth with Schnare leading the way with 16, while Wooden hit for a dozen points.
