Icy roads claim the life of Richmond woman

A Richmond woman died in a car crash around 5:14 p.m. Tuesday in Richmond.
Jennifer Carroll, 26, was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m. at Ray Memorial County Hospital.
A 5-year-old passenger in Carroll’s vehicle was also transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. The accident occured as Carroll was driving eastbound on Highway 10, just east of the Wellington Street overpass, when her 2000 Ford Taurus lost control and crossed the center line into the westbound traffic. Carroll was not wearing a seat belt.
She struck a 2005 Chevy Impala driven by Joshua Paige, 29, of Richmond. He refused treatment at the scene. Paige slammed on his brakes in an attempt to avoid the collision.
His injury was a broken toe from braking and was wearing a seat belt.
The Richmond Police Department is handling the investigation. Ray County Sheriff’s Department and the Ray County Ambulance aided in the accident.
