Williams displays passing prowess in 7-on-7 scrimmages

KEARNEY – Richmond got a taste Tuesday morning of what its passing attack might be like this varsity football season with Donivin Williams leading the offense. Williams, who has been a backup to starter and recent graduate Keyshaun Elliott, was the quarterback for the Spartans as they participated in 7-on- 7 exercises with other Kansas City metro area programs at Kearney High School. He was the lone varsity signal caller, with Richmond’s three other quarterbacks participating in junior varsity scrimmages, coach Nick Persell said. “We’ve known for a long time that Donivin was really talented, and he did a really good job today as well,” Persell said. Some opposing coaches told Persell they were impressed with Williams, Persell said. “That’s always nice to hear,” he said.
