By late July, most men are counting down the days before the start of football season. That also means that the term “football widows” creeps back into the conversation.
However, Kerra Bowers is doing her part to help women learn more about the game their husbands get so wrapped up in. Bowers, the wife of Richmond High School Football Coach Rob Bowers, will be co-hosting a program called “Football a la Femme” on Tuesday, July 27 starting at 6 p.m. Participants should enter the choir room from the northeast side of the Richmond Middle School wearing comfortable clothes and shoes.
The evening will begin in the middle school choir room with female-friendly football instruction, and end with a tour of the Richmond training facilities at the high school and some time on the field with the Spartan football team.
“It’s for women ready to eradicate the eye-rolling they get when asking questions about football,” Bowers explained. “This clinic may be just what they need. Besides covering the basics, it provides insight into the unique traits and needs of the guys, challenges they are facing in today’s world, and the influence of the football experience in addressing those needs.”
