James R. Fidler (07-07-2010)
James R. Fidler, 75, of Richmond, died at 12:05 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at his home.
James was born March 18, 1935 in Higginsville, the son of James L. and Edna (Rogers) Fidler. He married Susette M. Brunk of Cameron, June 11, 1960; she survives of the home.
James worked 35 years for the Missouri Department of Transportation retiring as a construction inspector in 1993.He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond and the Knights of Columbus. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Richmond VFW Post 4398. James lived in Kansas City before moving to Richmond in 1972.
In Addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Everett Fidler and wife, Connie, Higginsville, Vanace Fidler and wife, Melanie, and Shawn Fidler and wife, Bobbie, all of Richmond; one daughter, Berinda Fidler, Richmond; one sister, Mary Ellen Reed, Portland, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Shaya Fidler, Noah Fidler, Brandon and Stacy Hyden, Annie and Andrew Palmer, Katie and Mike Schrieman, Cassie and J. T. Schnittker, Yzabella Nanadiego, Rosa Lee, Lyndsay Williams, Jessilyn Williams, David Hieght, Jessie Fidler and his mother, Tanya, Chastity and Matthew Adkins; and 10 great-grandchildren, Molly Hyden, Katelynn, Hayden and Dylan Schrieman, Tre, Kiana, Kayley and Mia Schnittker, James and Mackinzie Adkins.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by one son, James R. Fidler, Jr. and one brother, Paul Fidler.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ray County Hospital Hospice.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 11, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, July 12, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. Burial with military graveside services will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond.
