John C. “Jay” Bunner (03-12-2010)
John C. “Jay” Bunner, 63, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
John was born Jan. 13, 1947 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Herbert Wesley and Norma Jean Anderson Bunner. He married Bonny Jo Lynn Oct. 19, 1973 in Dover; she survives of the home. John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. He worked in the cutting departments at Higginsville Garment Factory and Dunbrooke Shirt Co., and in the maintenance department at John Knox Village in Higginsville.
His parents and a brother preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to the family.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: his step-mother, Irene Bunner, Calhoun, Mo.; three sisters, Linda Sue Hull, Claremore, Okla., Nancy Mabe, Nowata, Okla., and Paula Jean Bunner, Missouri; one step-sister, Belinda Miller, Topeka, Kan.; two step-brothers, Johnnie Stark, Calhoun, and Allen Grayson, Gladstone; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 12, at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 13, at the funeral home. Burial is in Waverly Cemetery.

Deanna LaRue Moyer (03-12-2010)
Deanna LaRue Moyer, 37, of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Deanna was born July 1, 1972 in Lexington, the daughter of William E. and Joan (Sturgeon) Francis; they survive of the home. She married Mark Allen Moyer Oct. 31, 1998 in Richmond; he survives of the home.
Deanna was a 1990 graduate of Richmond High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, ceramics and most of all spending time with her children and family. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Richmond.
In addition to her husband and parents, survivors include: three children, Alexandra Francis and Christopher Francis, Richmond, and Dereck Moyer of the home; two sisters, Dawn Houston, Richmond, and Denise Francis, Bolivar; grandmother, Peggy Sturgeon, Richmond; one niece, one nephew; and her extended family.
Her grandparents, Thomas Sturgeon and Gene and Pauline Rippy preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m., Monday, March 15, at Polley Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.

Howard C. Carder (03-12-2010)
Howard C. Carder, 89, of Warrensburg, formerly of Excelsior Springs, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
Howard was born Oct. 12, 1920 in Ray County, the son of Gilbert Francis and Arah Elsie (Creason) Carder. He married Alice Alberta Sloan Nov. 4, 1946 in Kansas City, Kan.; she preceded him in death July 30, 2006.
Survivors include: two sons, Dan Carder, Excelsior Springs and Dale Carder, Warrensburg; one daughter, Deane Schirmer, Raymore; one brother, Wayne Carder, Rayville; two sisters, Marjorie Flannery, Richmond, and Anita Showalter, Idaho; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
In addition to his wife and parents, three brothers, Herbert, Royce and Donald Carder, and one sister, Lois Carder, preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Missouri Veteran’s Assistance League of Warrensburg.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday March 12, at Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. A private inurnment will be at a later date at the Sanderson Cemetery near Rayville.

Ralph Marvin Wood (03-12-2010)
Ralph Marvin Wood, 83, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his home.
Ralph was born July 6, 1926 in Dover, the son of James L. and Annie J. Dennis Wood. He married Lois Abbott May 12, 1951 in Lexington; she survives of the home. Ralph was a gunsmith at Lake City Munitions from 1960 until retirement in 1985. He was a Marine Veteran, a member of Lexington V.F.W. Post 4052 and a member of the N.R.A.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: a daughter, Valerie Wood-Hellyer and husband, Rich, East Dundee, Ill.; a son Michael Wood, Lexington; one granddaughter, Kelsi Wood, Sweet Springs; one sister, Nettie Berglund, Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, a brother, Jesse Wood, and a sister, Ethel Menaugh, preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made in his memory to V.F.W. Post 4052.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, March 14, at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 15, at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Lexington Memory Gardens.

Wilma Faye(Crowley) Riley (03-11-2010)
Photo of Wilma Faye(Crowley) RileyWilma Faye (Crowley) Riley, 91, of Rayville, died at 9 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Excelsior Springs Medical and Convalescent Center.
Wilma was born Oct. 14, 1918 in Rayville, the daughter of Hiram C. and Verlinda Susan (Jones) Crowley. She married Arthur D. Riley of Kansas City, Mo. Jan. 11, 1957; he preceded her in death July 21, 1973.
Wilma was a supervisor at Sears and Roebuck in Kansas City for 25 years before retiring in 1957. She attended the Rayville School District and was a graduate of East High School in Kansas City. Wilma was a member of the Rayville Christian Union Church. After her husband, “Dude’s” death in 1973, she moved back to the family farm in Rayville from Raytown. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, and the companionship of friends and family. All of her family was loved by “Big Auntie.”
Survivors include: sister-in-law, Ann Crowley, Excelsior Springs; niece, Sue Alexander and her husband, Gene, Rayville; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Elza Crowley and Robert Crowley; one sister, Reba Stanley; and one niece, Doris Adams.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rayville Christian Union Church.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 14, at Rayville Christian Union Church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 15, at the church. Burial will be in Old New Garden, Excelsior Springs.

Ilene Barbie Banks (03-10-2010)
Ilene Barbie Banks, 89, of Orrick, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, at White Ridge Health Care Center in Lee’s Summit.
Ilene was born June 7, 1920 in Newton, Mo., the daughter of William Jennings and Beryl (Barbee) Coffman. She married George William Banks, Sr. April 4, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas; he survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: two sons, George “Joe” Banks, Jr. and wife, Donna, Jenks, Okla., and Rick Banks and wife, Cynthia, Lee’s Summit; one sister, Billie Jean Kilgore, Mosby; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, one son, Michael Banks, and two brothers, Vaughn Coffman and Dean Coffman preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, March 14 at Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home. At the families request, the burial is private and will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Karen Marie Jackson (03-09-2010)
Karen Marie Jackson, 66, of Lawson, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at her home.
Karen was born March 12, 1943 in Elyria, Ohio, the daughter of Theodore James and Bessie Marie (Lathwell) Speigle. She married Richard Allen Jackson Dec. 16, 1977 in Kansas City, Mo.; he survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: her mother, Bessie Speigle, Independence; five children, Dawn Jones and husband, Rick, Windsor, Dean Stupp, Liberty, Kathy Ford and husband, Dave, Independence, Matt Jackson and wife, Amber, Rayville, and Laura Romazon and husband, Josh, Lawson; one sister, Jeannine Wright and husband, Lyle, Independence; eight grandchildren, Ashley Hubbard, Markus Burns, Stephanie Johnson, Sandra Stupp, Katie Holman, Kylah Jackson, Arissa Jackson and Cooper Jackson.
Her father and two brothers, Theodore Speigle, Jr. and Richard Speigle, preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Washington Street Restoration Branch Church, 15528 Washington School Rd., Excelsior Springs, MO 64024.
A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m., Saturday March 13, at the Washington Street Restoration Branch Church, Excelsior Springs. A private inurnment will be at Richmond Memory Gardens.

Frances McLallen (03-08-2010)
Frances McLallen, 87, of Richmond, died at 1:08 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Mrs. McLallen was born June 6, 1922 in Colorado Springs, Colo. to Joe and Maria Canella. She married Bartlett McLallen, Jr. of Richmond on April 4, 1945; he preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1995.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Pam McLallen of Overland Park, Kan.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Angie and Nick Ford of Richmond, Pamela and Mike Lorentz of Overland Park, and Carol McLallen of Kansas City, Kan.; one grandson; four step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Tom Canella, Johnny Canella and Charles Canella; two sisters, Margaret and Rose; and one grandson, Jerry Ford.
Mrs. McLallen was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the ALS or the VITAS Hospice.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at the Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond. Thurman Funeral Home of Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.

Lucille Gilbert (03-08-2010)
Lucille Gilbert, 89, Richmond, passed away March 4, 2010 at Shirkey Leisure Acres.  Lucille was a life-long Ray County resident.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Cleveland and Minnie Lee (Dudgen) White; brothers Houston, Clifton and Buford; and husband Herbert O. Gilbert.  She is survived by her daughter Vicki (Justin) Kohl of Richmond and brother Allen White.  Lucille was a member of Morton Church in rural Ray County. At her request, she will be cremated and scattered with no formal services.

Dora Joann Frye (03-08-2010)
Dora Joann Frye, 75, of Excelsior Springs, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at North Kansas City Hospital.
Joann was born on June 15, 1934 to Lester Carl and Madeline (Crowley) Todd. She was united in marriage on Oct. 22, 1950 to Richard L. Frye. Joann had been a custodian at the Lewis Middle School in Excelsior Springs before she retired in 1999. She attended church at the Flack Memorial Christian Union Church in Excelsior Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Richard L. Frye of the home; her children Gary and Lori Frye of Augusta, Kan.; Karen Etheridge and Garry Whitworth, Patty and Gary Easley, Mark and Gina Frye, Lee Ann and Mary Eldredge, and Cheryle and Lance Workman, all of Excelsior Springs; brothers Bob Todd, Johnny Todd and Carl Todd; and sisters Frances Clancy and Sue Walsh. Seventeen grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren also survive.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in South Point Cemetery near Orrick.

Reba Mae Clevenger (03-08-2010)
Reba Mae Clevenger, 84, Excelsior Springs, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Liberty Hospital.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs.  The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Reba was born on May 8, 1925 in Ray County, the daughter of Daniel and Fleeta (Mills) Sharp.
On August 23, 1943, she married Charles Clevenger who preceded her in death in May of 1998.
She was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs.
She enjoyed gardening and also loved country music.
Survivors include three daughters: Linda Brock and husband Doug of Excelsior Springs, Betty Hill of South Carolina, and Donna Rusk and husband Michael of Excelsior Springs; four sisters, Ruby Broadhurst of Excelsior Springs, Frieda Skinner of Lawson, Martha Jenkins of Richmond, and Margaret Warner of Excelsior Springs; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Reba was preceded in death by one son, Larry Clevenger; one sister, Opal Blyth; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Koren Reed.
Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.

Robert Lynn Gray (03-08-2010)
Robert Lynn Gray, 66, of Polo, died at his home on Friday, March 5, 2010.
Bob was born on Nov. 21, 1943 in Caldwell County, Mo. to Lynn Adair and Virginia Lee (Poor) Gray. On Aug. 6, 1966, he married Fern Reva Clariday. She preceded him in death on June 11, 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Gray of Kingston and Shawn Gray of Polo; one daughter, Shelby McKee of Lawson; one sister, Anne Underwood of Cameron; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and wife.
Services will be Tuesday, March 9, at Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer at 1 p.m. Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Cowgill Cemetery.
