Robert Walter Moll (07-27-2010)
Robert Walter Moll, 89, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Veterans Home in Warrensburg.
Robert was born Feb. 2, 1921 in Topeka, Kan., the son of Walter and Edith (Fager) Moll. He was united in marriage to Florence (Proper) Moll who preceded him in death Nov. 30, 1999.
Robert was a switchman for Southwestern Bell for over 32 years before he retired. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Lexington VFW, The American Legion Post 95 of Liberty, The WWII Submarine Veterans, The Dry Dock Dolphins Submarine Veterans, Submarine Veterans, Inc., and the Topeka-Jefferson City Submarine Veterans. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 57 AF & AM for over 50 years, and was a member of Richmond United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn Moll, Richmond; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary Moll and wife, Sharon, Jefferson City; two grandsons, Troy Stigall, and Marc Stigall and his wife, Jayneen; three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Sydney and Colby Stigall; and two brothers-in-law, Donald and Robert Proper of the Topeka, Kan. area.
In addition to his parents and wife, Walter was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Jackson and Cleora O'Dell.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Robert Walter Moll Memorial fund to go toward displaying his military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 29, at Polley Funeral Home, Richmond. Masonic services will begin at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, July 30 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery Masoleum in Topeka, Kan., with burial following in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Pansy Jane (Garton) George (07-27-2010)
Photo of Pansy Jane (Garton) GeorgePansy Jane (Garton) George, 98, of Independence, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Shirkey Leisure Acres Nursing Home in Richmond.
Pansy was born Jan. 5, 1912 near Linkville in Platte County, Mo., the daughter of Wiley T. Garton and Mary Zelma Pancake Garton. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1930. She married Everett George Dec. 16, 1930; he preceded her in death. Pansy was a faithful member of the Mount Washington United Methodist Church in Independence and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army. She was a retired employee of the Kansas City, Mo. School District, where she worked as a school cafeteria manager. Pansy’s family was the center of her life and she lived in the family home for 62 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, one brother, Algon Garton and one sister, Virginia Runyon, preceded her in death.
Survivors include: four sons and daughters-in-law, Bill George and his wife, Bonnie, Richmond, Gene George and his wife, Vicky, Oak Grove, Howard George and his wife, Ruth, Grandview, and Al George and his wife, Patti, Independence; numerous nephews and nieces; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mount Washington United Methodist Church, Independence, in memory of Pansy.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, at Mount Washington United Methodist Church, 584 S. Arlington Ave., Independence. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Charles LaBella, 48, of Richmond, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

Patrick W. Hurd (07-26-2010)
Patrick W. Hurd, 55, of Camden, died at 2:10 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.
Patrick was born Jan. 30, 1955 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Wayne F. and F. Marie (Grimes) Hurd.
Patrick was a truck driver and mechanic. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had lived in Liberty before moving to Camden in 1993.
Survivors include: his parents, Wayne and Marie Hurd, Liberty; one son, Kenny Hurd, Missouri City; three daughters, Stephanie Hurd, Kansas City, Mo., Jacquie Hurd and Frances Hurd, both of Missouri City; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Steve and Kumsook Hurd, Reno, Nev., Scott and Tina Hurd, Garfield, Ark.; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Christine and Steve Hauk, Dallas, Texas, Joanne and Dave Hale, Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Julie and Bill Kelley, Saline, Mich.; two grandchildren, Dimitri Steele and Aiden Steele.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Kansas City Hospice House.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 30, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Joyce L. Gassen, 73, of Lexington, died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at her residence.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 26 at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 27 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lexington Memory Gardens.

Eva Marie Howell, 78, of Excelsior Springs, died Friday July 23, 2010 at Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 28 at Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery near Lawson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midwest Transplant Network.
