Life-size Monopoly builds connection through play

A traditional board game recently took on a new form as community members stepped onto a life-size Monopoly board and experienced the game firsthand. The event, hosted by Special Needs Services (SNS) of Ray County in Ray County Library’s community room, invited community members to take part in a large-scale version of the classic game designed to encourage connection, creativity and shared experiences. Open to individuals of all ages and abilities, the activity focused on bringing people together through play while building social and life skills in an inclusive environment. The life-size board filled the space as community members moved from square to square, taking on the role of game pieces, rolling dice and following the familiar structure of Monopoly. The format encouraged constant movement and interaction, taking each turn into a shared experience.
