Buchanan’s 8-man farewell ‘a thing to remember’

ST. JOSEPH – Blake Buchanan’s official last high school football game was what he called “definitely a thing to remember.” That game was the 14th Annual Missouri 8-Man All-Star Game, staged by the Missouri 8-Man Coaches Association and held June 25 at Missouri Western State University. Representing Orrick, where he had graduated in May, Buchanan played on offense for the Green All-Star Team. He was the lone Ray Countian to play. “This is definitely a good last high school game for me,” he said minutes afterward. Buchanan’s contributions included a fourth-quarter, two-point conversion run – the final points in the Green’s 34- 26 victory over the Silver All-Star Team. “That was a good play,” he said.
