Woman kidnapped in Excelsior Springs

An 23-year-old woman was kidnapped Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m. in the 110 block of South Myrtle St. in Excelsior Springs.

Eyewitnesses told police that Carol Thomas, address unknown, was assaulted, forced into a trunk of a car and kidnapped by three white men.

Excelsior Springs police said they found the red Pontiac Grand Am they believe was involved in the kidnapping completely burned near Highway C and D, east of Lawson around 1:30 a.m. this morning.

"The car was completely burned out. There was not much left. However, there were no human remains in the car," said Excelsior Springs police Lt. Clint Reno to The Kansas City Star.

Thomas is described as a white female, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 125 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt.
