Area woman seriously injured in morning crash

A single-vehicle accident yesterday morning left an area woman with serious injuries.
Jamie J. Russell of Excelsior Springs was riding westbound Thursday morning with 19-year-old driver Billy G. Chaney of Rayville on Highway 10, just north of Route C in Ray County.
Chaney’s vehicle struck an embankment off the right side of the road around 1:40 a.m., overturning the vehicle and ejecting Russell, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol crash report. Neither wore a seatbelt, the report said.
