Charleen Newatha Battagler, 46, of Richmond, died Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Centerpoint Hospital, Independence.
Charleen was born Oct. 9, 1970, in South Bridge, Mass., to Henry and Reta Yvonne (Skiles) Chase. She married Tony L. Battagler, of Richmond, Jan. 14, 1995; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Tiffany Holt, of Richmond; one daughter and son-in-law, Meghan and Brandon Stockton, of Richmond; two brothers, William Edgar “Bill” Smith, of Warrensburg, and Todd Chase, of Webster, Mass.; one sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Mike Grant, of Shelburne Falls, Mass.; seven grandchildren; her step-father, Dennis Chronister, of Bonner Springs, Kan.; one step-brother and step-sister-in-law, Lucas and Amy Chronister, of Dallas, Texas; and one step-sister and step-brother-in-law, Stacey and Clint Brown, of Cheney, Kan.
Charleen was preceded in death by her mother, Reta Yvonne Chronister, and her father, Gary “Hog” Smith, who reared her.
Charleen was a homemaker. She grew up in the Hardin and Richmond areas most of her life. She was of the Christian faith. Charleen was a loving wife, mother and grammy. She enjoyed fishing.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Dialysis Center in Richmond.
Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, April 20, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial is in Hardin Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
