Wesley J. White, 85, of Richmond, died Saturday Aug. 9, 2014 at his home.
Wes was born Dec. 12, 1928 in Electra, Texas to Wiley Wasdin and Ruby Pearl (Vincent) White. He married Betty Pennington of Cooper Hill, March 19, 1948. She preceded him in death April 15, 2000. He later married Vera J. Pettijohn of Union Star, Feb. 17, 2001. She survives of the home.
Wes was an assembler for Ford Motor Company for 30 years before retiring in 1984. He was also a driver for Ray County Transportation for 13 years. He was a member of U.A.W. Union Local 249. He was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge 57 A.F. and A.M. He was a member of the Richmond Shrine Club and Ararat Temple. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows. Wes had lived in Belle, before moving to Richmond in 1959.
Additional survivors include; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Sandie White of Lenexa, Kan., Ron and Melinda White of Rayville, and Alan and Linda White of Richmond; one daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Steve Fletcher of Orrick; one sister, Wanda Fern Huggins of Richmond; one step-son, Kit Lowrance of Tukwalla, Wash.; two step-daughters and their husbands, Jennifer and Derek Vreeland of St. Joseph, and Katie and Yvan Jean-Louis of Forrestside, Mauritius; nine grandchildren, Shaunna White, Teresa Wykert, Shannon White, Brandon White, Jolie Foreman, Ryan White, Lindsay Fletcher, Melissa Fletcher and Justin Fletcher; 12 great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Wes was preceded in death by three brothers; Wasdin LeRoy White, Manford T. White and Emerson Dale White; and one step-granddaughter, Rachelle Ficken.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Richmond Masonic Lodge or to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 11, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, where masonic services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the College Hill Cemetery near Belle, at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be left at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
