The Richmond Lady Spartans drew a tough matchup for their first test of the 2014 golf season on a hot Monday afternoon at Shirkey Golf Course. The Lady Spartans faced the defending Class 2 state champion Warrensburg Lady Tigers along with Kearney in a triangular match with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the upper 90s.
Richmond followed with a dual win Tuesday over Pleasant Hill at The Quarry in the MRVC opener.
Warrensburg, with three returning members from their title team last fall, shot 167 for the low team score of the day. Richmond followed with a 189 and Kearney shot 220.
Taylor Black led the Lady Tigers by taking medalist honors for the afternoon with a one-under par 37. Teammate Hanna Johnson was the runner-up with a 41.
