Three area golfers teed it up at the Missouri Golf Association Junior Amateur Championship. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was held at Paradise Point in Smithville on the Outlaw course July 7-8 and featured the largest field ever to compete in the event.
There were 15 boys and girls playing in the 12-13 division; 35 girls in the 14-18 division and 132 boys in the 14-18 division.
Rayville’s Madalynn Probst had the top finish of the area golfers. Probst, who attended high school at Lawson, shot an 82 on the first day and followed with an 84. Her two-day total of 166 placed her sixth in the 16-18 age group. Ashley Childers of Mt. Vernon had the low score for the division with a 78-79 (157).
