Edward A. “Eddie” Hawkins, 77, of Richmond, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at his home.
Eddie was born May 8, 1937 in Richmond to Lloyd and Santford (Reynolds) Hawkins. He married Janice E. King of Kansas City, Mo. July 29, 1976. She survives of the home.
Eddie was a farmer. He was owner and operator of Hawkins Salvage Company for several years before retiring in 2001. Eddie was an over the road truck driver with U.S. Granules in Henrietta, MO for 10 years. He enjoyed traveling. Eddie was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include one son, Timothy A. Hawkins of Excelsior Springs, MO; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gail Rachelle Hawkins of Texas, Kimberley and Darrick Bruns of Smithville, MO and Julie and Michael Chowning of Richmond; five grandchildren, Brittany Sanders and her husband, Derek Sanders, Seth Bruns, Emily Chowning, Caleb Chowning and Lyndsey Chowning.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Luke Chowning and Elizabeth Chowning.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Richmond First Baptist Church or to the American Heart Association.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Friday, July 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
