Kathy Sue Shockley, 55, of Henrietta, died Monday, June 23, 2014 at Lafayette Regional Hospital in Lexington.
Kathy was born June 1, 1959 in Excelsior Springs, to William and Rose (Pigg) Loyd. She married Daniel Shockley. He survives of the home.
Kathy received her bachelor’s degree from C.M.S.U. in Warrensburg. She was a substitute teacher for the Richmond School District for several years. She was active in animal rights movements. Kathy loved arts and crafts. She had lived in the Richmond area most of her life.
Additional survivors include her mother, Rose Loyd of Henrietta; one son, Roger Loyd of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Rose and Jared Shepard of Hardin, and Keila Templeton of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Janie Loyd of Hardin; and eight grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her father, Kathy was preceded in death by one brother, Rodney Loyd.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Kathy Sue Shockley Memorial Fund.
A memorial services will be held Sunday, June 29, at 2 p.m. at the Henrietta Community Center. Inurnment will be at a later date.
