MONDAY, MAY 19

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. with weigh-in, Weight Watchers will meet at the Ray County Health Department, 820 E. Lexington St., Richmond.

At 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., T.O.P.S. (Take off Pounds Sensibly) meets at the United Christian Presbyterian Church, 501 N. Spartan Dr. in Richmond.

At 7 p.m., Faith in Life on Life’s Terms support group will meet at the Richmond Assembly of God Church in the church basement.  This is for addicts and non-addicts alike. All are welcome.

TUESDAY, MAY 20

At 11:30 a.m., Richmond Kiwanis meets at The 19th Hole with social time beginning at 11:30 and meeting at noon.

At 4 p.m., American Legion will host bingo at the Ray County Veterans Building, 312 Clark St., Richmond. Doors open at 4 p.m. with the first game beginning at 6 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 21

At 1 p.m., Chapter CO of P.E.O. will meet with Jean Davault as the Hostess and June Harrison as the Co-hostess. The social time begins at 1 p.m. with the meeting to follow at 1:30 p.m.

From 4 to 5 p.m., Harvesters Mobile Food Pantry will be delivering to Hardin United Methodist Church in Hardin. For information or questions please call 660-398-4532

From 6 to 8 p.m., First Baptist Church, Richmond will host Celebrate Recovery led by Mike Bliss.  For general information, 816-776-2296.

THURSDAY, MAY 22

At 9 a.m., Connect with your well deserved VA Benefits.  Hearing problems? Agent orange? Meetings will be held every Thursday at the Veterans Building on Clark St.  Contact Jim Rippy for more information 816-739-9899.

At 6 p.m., The Ray County Democrat’s Central Committee will meet 302 N. Camden at Richmond Housing Authority.  All are welcome, including Democratic candidates, to discuss proceeds from the very successful Mushroom Festival booth and upcoming festivals and events.  All income from booths and events generates money to support candidates running for office.

At 7 p.m., There will be a county wide meeting of the Ray County Republicans at the County Courthouse.

SATURDAY, MAY 24

From 4:30 to 7 p.m., Fish Fry at Polo Masonic Lodge. Free will donation, salads & deserts by Easter Star.

SUNDAY, MAY 25

At 10:30 a.m., New Hope Homecoming Celebration will be held with worship service beginning at 10:30 and basket dinner to follow.  Kathryn Morrison, former pastor of the New Hope – Millville United Methodist Church will be preaching.

From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Cowgill Fire Deptartment will host a Hog Roast with proceeds going towards equipment and repairs.

MONDAY, MAY 26

Richmond News office will be closed in observance of Memorial Day, the newspaper will be published on Tuesday.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Ray County Veterans Honor Guard Griffith-Skiles American Legion Post 237, VFW 4398 Will hold Memorial Day Services at Wood Lawn Cemetery at 10 a.m. and Memory Garden at 11 a.m.

At 10 a.m., Hardin Cemetery Association will host a Memorial Day Service with James Allen Strain as the guest speaker.

TUESDAY, MAY 27

At 6:30 p.m., Fourth Tuesday Grief Support Group meeting at the United Christian Presbyterian Church, 501 North Spartan Drive, Richmond.  We will  meet earlier than usual so that we may prepare balloons to honor our loved ones by inserting any comments, messages, pictures or poem into the balloons, writing the deceased person’s name on the balloon and releasing them as a group. You do not have to regularly attend the grief support group to participate in this memorial event. Call 816-217-3596 or 816-517-9343 if you have questions.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 28

From 4 to 5 p.m., The Hardin Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry will have food distribution and pick up for preregistered Hardin School District Families (This includes Stet) at the Hardin United Methodist Church. For more information or to register please call 660-398-4532.

SUNDAY, JUNE 1

From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Fish & Chips dinner at the Orrick Community Center, fish cooked by Masonic Lodge of Richmond, free will donation.  All proceeds benefit the Orrick Community Center.
