Two local golfers who just missed qualifying for last year’s state golf tournament, are among the six from Richmond and Orrick making their way to the 2014 state tournament after Monday’s sectional tournaments.
All three Richmond golfers qualifying for the sectional tournament played Monday at Shirkey Golf Course and will continue their seasons as they make their to Bolivar for the Class 2 state tournament. Among the three are junior Philip Kincaid, who was also a state qualifier last spring, along with senior teammates Zach Frederick and Reece Milligan.
Milligan finished sixth at the Sectional 4 tournament held Monday at Shirkey Golf Course. Milligan began his round on the back nine and shot a 39, and followed with a 40 for a 79 which tied him with Barstow’s Alec Adkins for sixth.
Kincaid and Frederick both started their rounds on the back nine as well. Kincaid, who finished 47th while shooting 87/83 at last year’s state tournament held at Fremont Hills, carded a 43 in his opening nine Monday, followed up with a 40 on the front. His 83 put him in 12th place.
