The Spartan track team picked up most of its points in relay events at Monday afternoon’s Nick Sloop Invitational at Lawson High School. Richmond placed seventh in the 10-team field with 27 points – just a point behind Plattsburg and 3 points ahead of Lexington.
Lawson completed the sweep of the meet, after the Lady Cardinals won their division. The Cardinals picked up 122.5 points for the meet, while Trenton finished as the runner-up with 109 points, and West Platte grabbed third with 91.
Richmond’s lone first-place finish came in the 4 x 800 relay with Matt Tweedie, Taylor Teegarden, Ethan Turner and Dakota Boss turning in a time of 8 minutes, 57.46 seconds. West Platte took second spot with a time of 9:04.76.
The 4 x 400 relay team of Tweedie, Teegarden, Kody Reed and Quinton Maxwell crossed the line in third place and stopped the clock with 3:40.26.
