Charles Revare Hayes, 74, formerly from Rayville, and longtime member of the Rayville Christian Union Church passed from this life May 7, 2014 at 3:55 p.m.
Charles was born was born Sept. 3, 1939 in Russellville, the youngest of six children to Cecil Earl Hayes and Gladys Katherine (Brizendine) Hayes. Two brothers Earl and William Hayes preceded him in death. Another two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Lois Hayes of Maquoketa, Iowa and Robert and Audrey Hayes of Rayville; one sister, Nellie Clevenger of Blue Springs. Charles is also survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Ann (Hill) Hayes; one son, Tony Ray Hayes of Versailles; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Bobby Luntsford of Madison; foster son, David Ray Johnson and his wife, Marcie of Annabelle. Charles and Carol have 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Charles was a 1958 graduate of Stet High School. He worked as a Union Carpenter for 33 years, retiring in 2000. He raised his family on a small farm north of Rayville, for 29 years. Upon his retirement, Charles and Carol moved to the Lake of the Ozarks, just outside of Stover, where he spent his final days at this home. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the tranquility of their lake home.
Charles leaves many close friends and family and will be greatly missed by all, but his place in Heaven has already been reserved as his new journey, with his Lord Jesus Christ has just begun!
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Rayville Christian Union Church or to the St. Jude’s Hospital for children.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. at the Rayville Christian Union Church. Visitation will be Saturday, May 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville. Online condolences may be left at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
