Raytown-based company Leath and Sons started work last week on a $413,842 MoDOT sidewalk project that’ll span the west side of Spartan Drive between Business Highway 10 and Chapel Drive.
Work on the ADA-compliant sidewalks is to be completed by Aug. 1; however, the project is ahead of schedule, likely to be done by the end of June, according to Melissa Black, MoDOT customer relations manager.
The project includes storm sewer modifications along Spartan Drive and South Street, along with signal upgrades for pedestrian traffic at Main and South street, she said.
A contractor has been also selected for the ADA-compliant sidewalk project connecting Richmond high and middle schools. J.D. Bishop of Kansas City will begin work after contracts are finalized, according to a memo from City Administrator Ron Brohammer. The project is fully funded by MoDOT. Bradford pear trees along South Street will be removed and replaced with new trees, he said.
